Man, 66, Beaten In January Fight Succumbs To His Injuries

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 66-year-old man beaten unconscious on the afternoon of January 26, has succumbed to his injuries.

Oxnard Police were dispatched to the 100 block of South C Street just after 5:30 p.m. six weeks ago.

Arriving officers found the victim, identified as Alexander Ysidro Flores Ramirez, unconscious.

Ramirez was immediately transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. Ramirez was stabilized, and again, became unconscious.

The victim, an Oxnard resident, had been hospitalized since the fight.

Tuesday, Ramirez's condition took a turn for the worse and he died.

An autopsy was conducted Friday by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office. The medical examiner ruled Ramirez's death was a homicide.

Investigators are following up on several leads and motives.

This is Oxnard's fourth homicide in 2014.

The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspect(s) in homicide cases.
