Intruder Arrested Following Bizarre Vandalism Spree In Covina

COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested Thursday following a bizarre vandalism spree in Covina.

Police said the suspect broke into an upscale residence in 3200 block of North Rancho La Carlota around 2 p.m.

The man then broke wine bottles and mirrors, threw food and a propane tank into a pool and lit several things on fire.

The intruder then locked himself in his vehicle before setting it ablaze.

Firefighters arrived and were able to rescue the culprit.

Authorities believe the man had severe mental problems.

The suspect caused about $20,000 to $30,000 in damages.
