Girl Receives Stitches After Being Bitten By Dog

DESERT HOT SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — A 10-year-old girl who was bitten by a dog as she waited for a school bus is out of surgery.

The girl was bitten at least once, possibly twice Wednesday by a 2-year-old Husky mix named Ollie as she petted him, Riverside County Animal Services officials said. The girl and her mother were "familiar with" the dog.

The attack happened Wednesday just after 8 a.m. on the corner of 7th Street and West Drive. The girl was petting the dog while waiting at the bus stop when the dog turned and bit her for some unknown reason, animal services officials said.

The girl received stitches after the incident, her mother said. She declined to identify herself to protect her daughter's identity.

"The sad fact is that Ollie did and he is now in a world of hurt for doing what he does," the mother said.
