Man Arrested For Smashing Out Windows Of LAPD Car In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly smashed the windows of an LAPD patrol car and stole a computer.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. at the Hollywood & Highland complex along Hollywood Boulevard.

The suspect, whose name was not released, reportedly used a piece of metal pipe to break the vehicle's windows before he pulled out the laptop and walked away.

Police immediately apprehended the man, who now faces several charges, including burglary.

Danielle Mitchell, who is visiting from Australia, took video of the what she described as a "very angry man" taking out his aggression on the squad car.

"I just couldn't believe what I was seeing," she said. "He looked like he had an agenda. He knew exactly what he was doing."

Other witnesses, including Christoper Dennis, who was dressed as Superman, told KCAL9's Brittney Hopper that dozens of people were watching, not knowing what the man would do next.

Asked if he felt like he needed to spring into action as Superman, Dennis said, "Of course. I've been portraying Superman out here for over 23 years, so I kinda feel like, 'Oh, these people are not gonna think I'm Superman if I don't intervene.'"
