Long Beach Woman Arrested For Selling Illegal Drugs From Unlicensed Daycare

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A Long Beach woman was arrested for selling illegal drugs from her unlicensed daycare.

Debbie Louise Felix, 49, has been charged with three felony counts of possessing narcotics for sale.

Based on a tip, officers served a search warrant at Felix's apartment on Jan. 3 in the 3500 block of East 2nd Street and collected cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin, mushrooms and Ecstasy, police said.

Over the next few weeks, Felix evaded authorities until she was finally taken into custody last week on two warrants.

Neighbors told KCAL9's Brittney Hopper that Felix was a friendly, well-liked person.

People were shocked about the accusations against Felix.

"I especially don't feel good about it because she was running a daycare and that's what's very troubling," Susan Wheeler said.

Residents said they believe Felix would make some of her drug transactions when the children were inside the daycare.

"I'm uncomfortable. To know this was going on in my neighborhood," Clarice Jimenez said.
