LASD Launches Search For Murder Suspect In Hills Near Greek Theater

HOLLYWOOD HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A tip Tuesday led the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to launch a large-scale search for a 54-year-old murder suspect in the Hollywood Hills.

Oscar Bridges is wanted in the Jan. 23 fatal stabbing of Robert Brewer, 21, of Texas, in a motel room in the 10400 Block of South Vermont Avenue.

"Brewer suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene," officials said.

Bridges, who also goes by the name "Rick," is described as a black man with black dreadlocks and brown eyes. He's approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 pounds.

Bridges is known to frequent motels in the Hollywood/West Hollywood areas and has worked for several local attorneys.

"He's very known in the area," Lt Holly Francisco said.

A combination of 50 deputies, Los Angeles police officers and park rangers were searching the hills above the Greek Theater and Runyon Canyon Park on foot and horseback after they received several tips he was seen in the area.

"In addition, deputies will be contacting local merchants and motel managers looking for leads," the LASD said.

Bridges, who has an extensive criminal record and is a registered sex offender, is considered armed and dangerous.

"We've gained information that this suspect likes to befriend young boys, ages 16 to 25 years old, so we're looking for anyone with any information or may have had contact with this suspect," Francisco said.

The search was called off about 3 p.m.
