POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a homeless man was shot and killed overnight on Sunday.

Several gunshots were heard in the 1900 block of west Orange Grove around 2:45 a.m., Pomona police said in a department statement.

According to the statement, those in the area didn’t initially call police.

Rather, the victim’s body was discovered in the 600 block of New York Drive around 7 a.m. by a person driving by.

When police arrived on scene, they located the unidentified victim, who was deceased.

The statement said it appeared the victim had setup a small sleeping area just across from the parking lot where he was shot. He was struck multiple times.
