Two women suffered smoke inhalation and were treated on the scene. A man, who was found in his bedroom where the fire started, was declared dead at the scene, the LAFD said.

The victim reportedly liked to use candles in his room and authorities were looking into that as the cause.

The residence did not have smoke detectors, according to Chief Steve Ruda.
