CERRITOS (CBSLA.com) — A male pedestrian was struck and seriously injured while running across the 605 Freeway in Cerritos Sunday.

A California Highway Patrol officer told City News Service the incident occurred on the north side of the freeway just north of the 91 Freeway at approximately 8:30 p.m.

According to CHP spokesperson Alex Rubio, the man ran across all lanes before he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the carpool lane.

The pedestrian has been taken to a local hospital.

His identity has not yet been released.

It’s unclear why the man was walking on a busy freeway.
