$50K Reward Offered In Murder Of Man, 27

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department Thursday announced a $50,000 reward for information leading the arrest of two suspects wanted in the murder of a 27-year-old man.

Jesus Eduardo Vargas was fatally shot around 7:20 p.m. on July 1 in the 2100 block of West Pico Boulevard.

According to authorities, Vargas was chased inside a fast food restaurant where a fight occurred.

"The suspect removed a handgun from his front waistband and pointed it at Vargas.  A second suspect entered the fast food restaurant wearing a bandana over his face and shot at Vargas several times," officials said.

Both suspects then exited the restaurant and fled on their bicycles southbound on Hoover Street.

Vargas was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The first suspect is described as a male Hispanic, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds and is between 20 and 25 years of age.  The second suspect is a male Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches tall and is between 20 and 25 years old.

Police say there were several customers inside the fast food restaurant at the time of the incident that may be witnesses.

"Detectives have exhausted all known leads in the case and are currently seeking the public's help in identifying the suspects," officials said.
