Police In Santa Ana Arrest Alleged Cat Burglar After He Took Cat Nap

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana Police have announced the arrest of a burglar they say fell asleep on the job.

Authorities said the victim woke up in his home on Highland Street and felt something touch his leg. He got up and saw a man he recognized -- asleep at the foot of his bed.

The alleged burglar awoke and fled.

The homeowner identified the intruder as Ruben Diego Ortega, who reportedly lives nearby.

Ortega told police he saw an open window in the neighbor's house and entered the home to see what he could take.

He also explained to authorities that he planned to grab something and go -- but that he must have been tired and fallen asleep.
