UC Santa Barbara Overpowers Seattle University, 86-70

SEATTLE (AP) — Alan Williams tallied 27 points and UC Santa Barbara made 34-of-39 free throws in defeating Seattle University 86-70 on Monday night.

Kyle Boswell added 19 and Zalmico Harmon 13 points for UCSB.

It took USCB (8-4) three minutes to score in the first half before igniting a 20-5 run leading in to the break. Seattle started almost as poorly, but failed to respond as UCSB built a 15 point edge, leading 32-17 at halftime.

The Redhawks were hapless shooting from the floor and trailed 55-33 halfway through the second period before finally finding some shooting success, however, Santa Barbara never relented on their offensive game and coasted to an easy 16 point win.

Isiah Umipig added to his 19.6 season average, scoring 24 for the Redhawks.

Seattle University (8-5) opens Western Athletic Conference play against UMKC on Friday while the Gauchos start Big West action with Cal-Poly on Jan. 11.
