Woman Buried In Compton Yard, Boyfriend Arrested

COMPTON (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say a man has been arrested for investigation of killing his girlfriend, who was found buried in a Compton backyard.

Lt. John Corina tells City News Service Tuesday that deputies sent to the home on a domestic violence call late Monday night spotted freshly dug dirt in the backyard and found a young woman dead in the ground.

Corina says a few hours later 22-year-old Devon Anderson walked into the Compton sheriff's station and said he'd killed his girlfriend and buried her in the yard.

Anderson was being held on $1 million bail. No court date has been set and it wasn't clear whether he had retained an attorney.

Coroner's investigators have taken the woman's body and will withhold her identity until relatives are notified.
