Huntington Beach Woman In Her 60s Badly Beaten

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a "person of interest" has been detained for questioning in connection with the assault of a woman in her 60s in Huntington Beach.

Huntington Beach police said in a department statement that officers were dispatched to a home in the area of Beach Boulevard and Adams Avenue following a report of a woman who appeared to be badly beaten.

The call came in about 3:30 a.m. although it was unclear when the incident occurred.

When officers arrived, they transported the victim to the hospital. She is currently in stable but critical condition.

The statement said authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.
