9 Injured -- 2 Critically -- In 2-Vehicle Crash In Winnetka

WINNETKA (CBSLA.com) — Nine people were injured -- two critically -- in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Winnetka.

The crash occurred in the 20300 block of Parthenia Street, according to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash was reported just after 6:50 p.m.

KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen reported from the scene and said an SUV collided with a mini van sending the van careening into the curb in front of Anthony Gartman's house.

A surveillance camera mounted on Gartman's house caught the accident on video.

"I've been living here now for about three years," Gartman said, "Since that time, I've seen four major accidents ... at the corner outside my house."

The fire department told Nguyen the van had nine passengers.

"Firefighters worked frantically to get everyone out. There were two families in the van, so we had a lot of patients rapidly that needed help quickly."

Seven of the passengers were in fair condition, said Main.

All nine victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
