Authorities Release Surveillance Video Hoping To Catch Arsonist

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) —  Officials on Saturday released surveillance video of a man setting fire to a discarded couch.

Authorities said they were hoping the video would lead to their suspect.

The actual arson took place in September in Van Nuys but investigators have had no real leads into the suspect's identity.

The fire was set Sept. 29 in the 14600 block of Aetna Street, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

In the video, the arson suspect is seen pushing the couch against a tree and then setting it on fire with a match or lighter.

Anyone with information about the suspect was urged to contact the LAFD's Arson/Counter Terrorism Section at (213) 893-9850.
