Some Retailers Expand Hours For Last-Minute Holiday Shoppers

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — Some retail stores have expanded their hours to help out last-minute Christmas shoppers and to boost holiday sales.

KCAL9's Melanie Woodrow reported from the Glendale Galleria Friday night, where a steady stream of customers were outside of Macy's.

A number of Macy's stores opened at 7 a.m. Friday and will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Most locations, however, will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday through Monday. On Christmas Eve, some stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kohl's opened at 6 a.m. Friday and will close its doors on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. Kmart opened at 6 a.m. Friday and will shut down at 10 p.m. Dec. 24. Toys R Us will be open 87 hours straight starting Saturday.

Some shoppers don't believe the late hours will encourage them to spend more.

"I don't know if I'd be encouraged. I might start grabbing stuff out of sleep deprivation, maybe," Justin Duffin said.

"Good heavens. I don't know if I could last," Ernie Ehrhardt said. "I don't know if my credit cards could last."
