Christmas Boat Parade Draws Throngs To Newport Beach
NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A dazzling light display on the waters off Newport Beach drew throngs on Friday night.
For a third consecutive night, the 105th annual Newport Beach Boat Parade thrilled spectators with boats rolling down a 14-mile stretch of the harbor.
Close to 70 boats ranging from yachts to kayaks were participating.
"It's just tradition and family. Our family is very traditional and the boats give us so much pleasure. We love to give back to the boats," said Peggy Rich, a homeowner.
Rich told CBS2's Brittney Hopper that her family has been participating in the parade for the past 27 years.
This year's theme for the parade, which is hosted by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, is "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree!"
The parade is expected to run through Dec. 22.
