Man Reportedly Shoots 1 Dead, Wounds Another In Reseda

RESEDA (CBSLA.com) — Two people have been shot --  one fatally --  in Reseda, according to authorities.

Officials said the two victims -- a man and a woman both in their 50s -- were shot in the 7500 block of Canby Avenue.

Rachel Kim, reporting for KCAL9, said police were called to an apartment on that block just after 6:40 p.m.

On arrival, authorities said they found the two victims both wounded by gunfire. One of the victims was shot in the head, the other shot multiple times in the torso, according to Kim.

Officials told Kim that the suspect, who's believed to be the husband or boyfriend of the building's property manager, came at them unarmed, screaming and shirtless. He has been taken into custody.

The male victim was struck in the head. He was killed. The female's condition is unknown.

One witness said the suspect was shouting wildly about "terrorism" as well as "Obama" and "Hitler."

Police are interviewing the suspect's wife as well trying to determine a motive for the attack.

Sky9 showed video of a female victim -- on a stretcher --  being taken into an ambulance.

Kim spoke to a neighbor, Erik Correa, who said the suspect could be heard screaming at police.

"I was scared, there were cops pointing guns everywhere. I didn't want to get hit. I ran myself."

Police are warning the public to avoid Canby Avenue between Valerio Street and Sherman Way as the investigation continues.
