Huntington Beach School Maintenance Worker Charged With Distributing Child Porn

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — A Huntington Beach City School District maintenance worker is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Roger Scott Hewson, 51, of Fountain Valley, was charged with one count of possession and control of child pornography and one count of distributing obscene matter, Orange County District Attorney's officials said.

Hewson was arrested Nov. 7 at Dwyer Middle School, where he worked. He is free on $100,000 bail, but has since been put on unpaid leave, according to reports.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Hewson allegedly possessed hundreds of digital pictures on his home computer on Aug. 27 that contained sexually explicit images of child pornography. Hewson has been accused of distributing the images through a file sharing program.

If convicted, Hewson may be required to register as a sex offender for life and faces up to three years and eight months in state prison.
