Veteran, 32, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Canyon Lake

CANYON LAKE (CBSLA.com) — Karen Bolger said she can't eat or sleep until she knows what happened the night her 32-year-old husband was struck by a car and left to die in the street.

Scott Bolger, an army veteran who served in Kosovo and father to twin babies, was killed on Railroad Canyon Road shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Canyon Lake police.

Bolger was at a local tavern with his brother-in-law when he stepped out to have a cigarette.

Deputies say Scott stepped into the street and was hit by a car, whose driver didn't stop to check on Bolger.

Karen Bolger, an emergency room nurse, says she realizes accidents happen but she can't understand how someone could've left her husband to die.

"He was a kind soul and didn't deserve this," she said.

The high school sweethearts were looking forward to sharing the holidays with their 8-month-old little girl and boy.

"I don't know how anyone could live with themselves knowing that they've devastated our family like this," Karen said.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Deputy Rabago at the Perris Sheriff's Station at (951)210-1000.
