Fight Between Customers Causes Scare At South Coast Plaza

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — A fight between two people at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa created a scare Friday night after one of the shoppers claimed the other had a gun.

The altercation happened at the Salvatore Ferragamo store around 7:30 p.m.

KCAL9's Stacey Butler reports one of the customers told a clerk that a man brandished a weapon. The clerk contacted authorities.

Police later detained the suspected gunman, but then released him when it was determined the threat was unfounded and no gun was discovered.
