Lap Of Love Offers Hospice Care For Terminally Ill Pets

ORANGE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — A national network of veterinarians is providing end of life care for sick pets and the people who love them.

Lap of Love is a group that provides at-home hospice care and euthanasia for terminally ill pets.

Yorba Linda veterinarian Dr. Mary Gardner makes house calls to help families with the process, and says their work gives humans a chance to know their beloved pet will pass away with dignity.

"We make them feel comfortable and confident that they are making the right decision," Dr. Gardner told KNX1070's Mike Landa.

"We are the only medical practice or medical doctors who are legally allowed to take a life. We take it very seriously and it's an honor to help these families," she said.

There are 68 Lap of Love partner vets in nearly 20 states.
