Allegedly Abducted Harbor City Boys Home, Dad Still At Large

HARBOR CITY (CBSLA.com) — Officials said the 9 and 10-year-old sons of their alleged abductor were found safe Saturday at the San Ysidro border.

Authorities said the boys were aided by an unidentified Good Samaritan.

Carson Sheriff's detectives say the boys' non-custodial father, Charles Samuel Baines Sr., is still at large.

Officials said Baines took off with the boys from their Harbor City home on November 27.

The children were unharmed, according to authorities.

After the boys were cleared medically, they were returned to their custodial grandparent, Baines' mother.

Detectives believe Baines may have fled to Mexico. Baines has distinctive tattoos on his face including the words "Drug Cartel."

Baines is described as black, 6 feet 4 inches tall, and about 270 pounds. He has brown eyes and a shaved head.

Officials say Baines is currently on parole and described him as having mental health issues.

A car, allegedly stolen from Baines' mother, has also not been recovered. Baines may be driving the red 2008 Kia Spectra with a license plate #6FMN288.

Anyone having information regarding Baines and is whereabouts is asked to call the Watch Commander at the Carson Station at (310) 830-1123.
