Gurrola faces 54 counts of discharging a gun in public and two counts of assault after mother and her 4-year-old daughter were injured as they fled the gunfire last December.

Gurrola is also charged with a similar shooting at the same mall in 2011. No injuries were reported in either incident.

If convicted on all charges, Gurrola faces up to 115 years in prison.
