Caught On Camera: Thief Snatches Package From Corona Home

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — A Corona homeowner says security cameras captured a man snatching a package from her porch earlier this week.

"He leans over, picks up the package and he's outta there," Carissa Rampley said.

After he took one package, which had brand new sandals inside, the man returned.

"That's right when I caught him. The other packages are over here, you can't see them, on a chair and a table.  He asked me if Bob lives here, and then I said, 'No, there's no Bob,' and he stumbled over his words," Rampley said.

The man then walked away.

Rampley says she hopped in her truck to find the looter once she realized a package was missing, but wasn't able to locate him.

The Rampleys have now put up a sign on the front porch that reads, "Smile, you're on camera," for anyone interested in taking other items.

"Without this proof, I would have had no clue," Rampley said.

Rampley says the shipping company mailed her another pair of sandals after she told them about the incident.

CBS2's Crystal Cruz reported that a deputy investigating Rampley's case told her a suspect has been identified and an arrest could be imminent.

Meantime, authorities suggested that residents sign for packages when they're delivered, especially during the holiday season.
