Galaxy's Robbie Keane Is Finalist For Major League Soccer's MVP Award

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) — Forwards Robbie Keane of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Mike Magee of the Chicago Fire and Marco DiVaio of the Montreal Impact are the finalists for Major League Soccer's Most Valuable Player award.

The league said Wednesday the winner will be announced Dec. 5.

Colorado forward Deshorn Brown, Rapids midfielder Dillon Powers and Seattle defender DeAndre Yedlin are the finalists for Rookie of the Year, to be announced Nov. 25.

Keane, from Dublin, Ireland, played nearly 2000 minutes in 23 games played with 16 goals and 11 assists.

Forward Landon Donovan was the last Galaxy member to win the Most Valuable Player award in 2009.

Other finalists are:

Fair Play (Nov. 25): Chicago defender Jalil Anibaba, Salt Lake defender Nat Borchers and Portland midfielder Darlington Nagbe

Defender of the Year (Nov. 26): Kansas City's Matt Besler, New England's Jose Goncalves and Los Angeles' Omar Gonzalez

Coach of the Year (Dec. 2): Salt Lake's Jason Kreis, New York's Mike Petke and Portland's Caleb Porter

Comeback Player of the Year (Dec. 2): New England defender Kevin Alston, Philadelphia forward Conor Casey and Seattle forward Lamar Neagle

Goalkeeper of the Year (Dec. 4): Kansas City's Jimmy Nielsen, Portland's Donovan Ricketts and Salt Lake's Nick Rimando

The league will announce its Best XI on Dec. 3.
