Pursuit Suspect Fatally Shot By Long Beach Police On Roof Of Building
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit suspect was fatally wounded early Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting in Long Beach.
The unidentified suspect, who was wanted for a carjacking in Los Angeles, failed to pull over during a traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. and led authorities on a foot pursuit.
The pursuit ended at an apartment building near E. 4th Street and Nebraska Avenue around 4 a.m. when the suspect somehow made his way to the roof and was shot, Long Beach police said.
He died at the scene.
Several surrounding streets were shut down as police conducted an investigation.
Tuesday's shooting marked the third officer-involved shooting in Long Beach in a week.
