Authorities Seek Patience While They Probe LAX Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Several law enforcement agencies, who responded to LAX following a deadly shooting rampage in Terminal 3 earlier this month, have asked for patience during their investigation.

LAWA Airport Police -- in conjunction with the FBI, TSA, and the LAPD -- issued a joint statement on Saturday, which read in part,

"Various statements have been made regarding the incident, some of which are untrue and others that merit serious consideration by our respective agencies."

The statement followed an earlier report by the Associated Press that alleged that medical attention for TSA Officer Gerardo Hernandez was delayed by 33 minutes.

One possible reason cited was an allegation that an LAPD officer and other responders erroneously reported that Hernandez was dead.

The agencies said that once their investigation is complete, recommendations and changes will be made based on their findings.

"The principal agencies involved in responding to the incident will await the findings of the After Action Workgroup, which will provide the best perspective from which to draw conclusions," the statement added.
