CBS Reportedly Orders 'HIMYM' Spinoff With 'How I Met Your Dad'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Hello, Daddio.

Various trade publications are reporting that CBS has ordered a spinoff of the popular -- and retiring -- "How I Met Your Mother."

According to Variety and Hollywood Reporter, the network is bringing back the show's creative team to produce "How I Met Your Dad."

The new sitcom will feature all new characters and a plot with a female perspective, the trades report.

"HIMYM" co-creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have been hired to write and exec produce the pilot.

Variety reported "Up All Night" creator Emily Spivey will also produce and co-write the pilot.

Deadline.com reported the shows will be linked by the popular hangout, MacLaren's Pub, where "HIMYM" stars discuss love and life.

TVGuide.com, also owned by CBS, said the new show would be a standalone, meaning one not need be familiar with the current show to enjoy the spinoff.
