Man Accused Of Murdering 5-Year-Old Daughter, His Wife And Critically Attacking 3rd Woman

HEMET (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are accusing a Hemet man of murdering his 5-year-old daughter, his wife (the girl's step-mother) as well as slashing the throat of a third adult female -- an acquaintance --  Saturday evening.

Police told CBS2's Greg Mills the suspect in custody.

There were two crimes scenes but police say one connection -- Johnny Lopez, 33.

The bodies of the two females were found Saturday evening shortly after 9 p.m. inside a home in the 26000 block of Girard Street near Hemet.

Officials say Lopez killed his wife and his 5-year-old daughter at the Girard Street location. The adult woman was the girl's step-mother.

In the second case, Lopez is accused of attacking another adult female and slashing her throat about a mile away on Sunset Lane.

Police would only say the third victim was an acquaintance of the suspect's.

Capt. Scot Collins with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department told Mills that woman is in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.

Mill said the woman is "clinging to life."

Police have not revealed how the deceased were killed or if a knife was used.

KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo spoke to neighbors who said they heard arguing in the house.

On Saturday, Angela Mills said she heard a man's voice yelling.

"I heard a man screaming 'Shut up' and really bad, violent language," said Mills.

Neighbor Collin Fields saw the arrest at the Sunset Lane location.

The bloody suspect was ordered to the ground.

"I heard this ruckus across the street and an officer telling this guy he had to get on the ground," said Fields, "and I looked out the window and the officer had a gun to his head."

A detective saw the home's broken window, went to investigate and found the third victim with her throat cut, officials said.
