Young Man Fatally Shot In Hollywood After Night Of Partying

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man in his early 20s was fatally shot in Hollywood after a night of partying.

The incident occurred just before midnight on West Sunset Boulevard and North El Centro Avenue, officials said.

Investigators say between 40 to 50 people, including the deceased, were on board a party bus that had picked up revelers in Compton. They were all in their 20s and 30s.

Authorities say a fight between the group ensued while the bus made a rest stop in Hollywood, according to CBS2's Joy Benedict. It's still unclear what sparked the altercation.

"When they got out to use the facilities, an argument ensued and some shots were fired," said LAPD Lt. Dan Randolph. "We have two victims that were taken to a local hospital."

Both victims were in their early 20s. One man was pronounced dead at the hospital while a second victim was listed in critical condition.

Several people were initially detained by investigators, many of whom have since been released. However, two remain in police custody, according to KNX 1070's Ed Mertz.
