1 Hurt After Car Plows Through Convalescent Home In Beverly Grove

BEVERLY GROVE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday said at least one person was injured when a vehicle plowed into the lobby of a convalescent home in Beverly Grove.

The accident in the 600 block of Fairfax, just south of Melrose Avenue, was reported around 2:20 p.m., according to Shawn Lenske, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

CBS2's Art Barron, reporting from the scene, said an 83-year-old man was trying to parallel park when he accelerated backwards into the Kennedy Care Center.

The care center lost its front doors and wall.

No one inside the building was injured. The driver suffered minor injuries, Barron reported.

The man was coming to the facility to visit his wife, according to care center staff.
