INDIO (CBSLA.com) — A 10-year-old girl was recovering Friday after being attacked by a pit bull in Indio earlier this week.
The incident happened Wednesday night in Yucca Park, according to a news release issued by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services.READ MORE: Motorcyclist Killed In Fatal Riverside Crash
Officials said the girl was bitten in her face after approaching the stray, 2-year-old blue pit bull. She was taken to an area hospital with two puncture wounds and two lacerations.READ MORE: Former President Bill Clinton Hospitalized At UCI Medical Center In Orange: 'He Is On The Mend'
Soon after the attack, the dog was picked up by Riverside County Animal Services Sgt. Miguel Hernandez.

Anyone with information about the dog, which authorities said did not have an identifying collar or a microchip, was asked to contact Animal Services at (951) 358-7387.
