1 Wounded In Long Beach Deputy-Involved Shooting
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A suspect was wounded Tuesday in a deputy-involved shooting in north Long Beach, officials said.
The shooting occurred around 10:15 a.m. near Pine Avenue and Sunset Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
Two deputies were trying to serve either a warrant or conduct a felony check when they encountered the suspect and shots were fired, CBS2/KCAL9's Dave Lopez said.
Nearby residents reported hearing as many as six gunshots.
A neighbor told Lopez that the suspect had a little girl with him at the time of the shooting.
She said she had seen the child, who was not injured, with the man before.
The suspect, described only as a Hispanic man, was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
No deputies were injured.
A handgun was recovered at the scene, officials said.
The shooting was under investigation.
