Woman Killed, Child Injured After Tumbling Out Of Car In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A woman died and a child was injured Thursday night after they tumbled out of a moving car in Santa Ana.

CBS2's Melanie Woodrow said authorities received reports of a female adult and a child in the roadway in the 1600 block of W. Edinger around 8 p.m.

The unidentified woman, believed to be in her 20s or 30s, suffered major head trauma. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

The child, who is between 10 months old to a year-and-a-half, suffered scratches and abrasions and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Both of their identities are unknown.

Homicide detectives are trying to determine whether the woman was pushed or fell out of the vehicle.

"The vehicle involved in this incident is described as a dark colored pick-up truck that fled the scene," Santa Ana police said.
