Hour-Long Pursuit Ends With Standoff In Sunland

SUNLAND (CBSLA.com) — An hour-long pursuit ended with a standoff situation in Sunland Thursday morning.

Authorities began pursuing a robbery suspect at 7:36 a.m. in the La Crescenta area.

The suspect, who was driving a white, four-door sedan, could be seen traveling at high rates of speed and weaving through traffic.

He also went through several stop signs, and at one point, drove up on a median.

The high-speed chase eventually moved to the foothills of La Canada Flintridge before coming back to La Crescenta.

It ended in Sunland at 8:42 a.m., when deputies conducted the pit maneuver on the suspect's vehicle.

The man continued driving backward until two patrol cars were able to surround him.

The suspect then stayed in his vehicle until 8:52 a.m., when he exited the car and surrendered to authorities.

Officials say the man was wanted for allegedly robbing a business in Montrose on Wednesday.

Thursday's pursuit was initiated after deputies spotted the vehicle near Honolulu and Lowell avenues.
