Dropped Driver's License Leads Deputies To Alleged Truck Thief

CERRITOS (CBSLA.com) — A man who dropped his driver's license as he allegedly stole a truck full of children's clothing was questioned Tuesday by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies.

Deputies found the license while investigating a theft from a cargo depot in the 10800 block of Artesia Boulevard about 5:30 a.m., sheriff's Capt. Keith Swensson said. When the deputies went to the address on the license, they found the stolen truck there, he said.

Deputies watched as the suspect got into the truck and drove off before moving in to make an arrest, Swensson said.

The truck contained merchandise, mostly children's clothing, valued at $27,000, he said.

The name of the suspect was unavailable pending booking.
