Armed Suspect Surrenders After Being Holed Up Inside Reseda Building

RESEDA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said an armed man barricaded himself inside a building in Reseda Sunday for three hours before surrendering peacefully.

LAPD spokesman Cleon Joseph says that officers were notified about the incident around 10:20 a.m. Sunday.  The unidentified suspect was reportedly holding authorities at bay in the 7400 block of Canby Avenue, just east of Reseda Boulevard on Valerio Street.

City News Service reported that a SWAT team was assembled.

The suspect surrendered without incident around 2:15 p.m., according to Lt. Craig Valenzuela of the LAPD West Valley Division.

The incident was likely sparked by a domestic violence call made to police by the suspect's girlfriend, said Valenzuela.
