Man, 21, Arrested On Suspicion Of Stealing At Least $1K In Baby Formula

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they've arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the theft of more than $1,000 in canned baby formula from three Irvine stores.

Irvine police said in a department statement that Joshua Campos turned himself in to detectives just after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Prior to that, police say they had contacted Campos' acquaintances in an effort to encourage him to surrender after authorities say they recognized him in surveillance tape from an Oct. 21, commercial burglary.

Campos had previously been arrested on Oct. 11, during a traffic stop. It was then that police say they uncovered $1,600 in stolen baby formula following a vehicle search.

"Further investigation connected the stolen baby formula to two commercial burglaries in Irvine and one in the city of Orange," according to the department statement.

Campos posted bail but was allegedly implicated in the three subsequent commercial burglaries from Oct. 21, according to the statement.

He is currently being held in lieu of $1,000 bail, the statement said.
