Antonio Villaraigosa Takes New Post At Public Relations Firm

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former mayor Antonio Villaraigosa added a new title to his resume Tuesday as a senior advisor at Edelman, the world's largest public relations firm.

"We are thrilled to welcome Antonio to the Edelman family and particularly to the Public Affairs practice, which is a priority area of growth and investment for the firm both in the U.S. and globally," said Global Public Affairs chair Katie Burke. "Antonio's ability to build coalitions across ideological divides in order to find solutions to some of today's leading challenges for government and business will be an invaluable resource for our clients as he serves as a strategic counselor."

"I am excited to be joining Edelman's top-notch roster of public affairs talent," Villaraigosa said. "I look forward to contributing my unique perspective and experience in navigating resolutions and driving key initiatives for Edelman's clients."

The 60-year-old, who left office in June, was also just named senior fellow of the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank.

Aside from his duties at Edelman, the former mayor is a strategic advisor for the Banc of California, a senior advisor for Herbalife and holds a fall political fellowship at Harvard.

It was unclear when Villaraigosa's job at Edelman was to begin.

The ex-mayor receives an annual pension of more than $97,000 from the City of Los Angeles.
