50-Something Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In San Fernando

SAN FERNANDO (CBSLA.com)  — A man believed to be in his 50s, was fatally struck by a car Saturday evening in San Fernando.

Officials said the accident occurred about 9 p.m. on San Fernando Road just south of the on-ramp to the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, said Sgt. E. Baptiste of the LAPD's Traffic Division.

Baptiste said it was determined that the driver was not at fault. The motorist was not under the influence and the victim was not in a crosswalk.

"The driver stopped. The driver did what a driver should do," said Baptiste.

The victim was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
