Man Shot, Killed In Front Of His Teenage Son During Botched Robbery

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a man was shot and killed in South Los Angeles Saturday evening in front of his 15-year-old son during an attempted robbery.

The man's son also suffered a graze wound during the attempted robbery, according to LAPD Sgt. Rudy Alaniz.

The shooting occurred at about 7:40 p.m. at 92nd Street and Gramercy Place, said Alaniz.

"The preliminary investigation indicates it was an attempted robbery. Two male blacks walked up to the car and shot the victim," Alaniz said.

The father was shot three times in the upper torso and was taken to California Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The son is reported in stable condition. His wound is not life-threatening.

It did not appear the suspects got any money from the victim, Alaniz said.

The suspects remain at large.
