MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — The first classrooms tested for mold at Malibu High School showed normal results, school officials said Friday.
This news comes after administrators relocated all classes in the middle school building earlier this week after several parents sent a letter Monday demanding the relocation of classes and criticizing the lack of transparency from the school after media reports Sunday revealed that one-third of Malibu High School teachers had complained of health problems, including cancer and other serious illnesses.READ MORE: Westminster Officer On Paid Leave After Punching Handcuffed Woman
All music classes were scheduled to be moved Monday to Malibu Methodist Church across from the school in the 30000 block of Morning View Drive.
School administrators said this week they were relocating classes out of an abundance of caution.
“Although we have no evidence that there are any environmental issues with our Music Building, we understand that some parents are concerned about sending their children into these classrooms. As a result, we will be relocating our music classes, effective on Monday,” Principal Jerry Block said in a letter to parents.READ MORE: 'First Step Towards Justice': Biden Set To Fully Recognize Armenian Genocide
The school district announced it was bringing in another team of experts to examine possible connections between musty classrooms, pesticide-laden
dirt and an unusual number of cancers and other illnesses. A cancer expert from USC has been hired as a consultant, according to the district.
