Police In Inglewood Arrest Woman's Ex-Boyfriend For Double Homicide

INGLEWOOD — Police say the former boyfriend of a woman killed in a shooting at an Inglewood apartment complex has been arrested for investigation of murder.

City News Service reported Thursday that 19-year-old James Marquis Scott of Compton was booked late Wednesday night. He remained jailed without bail Thursday.

A gunman fired at three people in an apartment Tuesday, killing 18-year-old Crystallyn Nguyen and 68-year-old Dora Lee Dawson. Nguyen's boyfriend and Dawson's grandson, 22-year-old Datwan Henderson, was critically injured.

Detectives believe Scott, who was Nguyen's ex-boyfriend, targeted the victims out of jealousy.

Police say the incident began with an altercation behind the apartment complex between Henderson and a suspect. Henderson ran into the apartment complex and the suspect followed. Gunfire erupted inside the apartment soon after.
