OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place in Oxnard last month, police said.

Officials say Tiffany Helling, 25, a Port Hueneme resident, was driving the silver 2003 Infiniti G35 that struck and killed 20-year-old Aida Reyes of Oxnard on Sept. 20.

The collision occurred just before 11 p.m. at Hemlock Street and Capstan Drive.

Reyes was taken to a local hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but she died the next day.

The Oxnard Police Department conducted an extensive investigation.

Helling was arrested around 1 p.m. Wednesday and subsequently charged with vehicular manslaughter and felonious hit-and-run.

She was transported to the Ventura County Jail.

Anyone with information about the accident was asked to call Senior Officer Maria Pena at (805)385-7750.
