LAUSD To Host First-Ever 5K 'Move It' Challenge Next Month

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — LAUSD Senior Deputy Superintendent Michelle King stopped by the KCAL9 studio on Sunday morning to discuss the district's upcoming 5K event.

The LAUSD's first "Move It" Challenge and Health Festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Dodger Stadium.

The event will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with pre-festival activities.

In conjunction with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the district fundraiser aims to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle while raising funds for the district's new wellness centers.

Currently, the district has 12 centers with two more scheduled to open. The centers offer health and wellness services as well as primary prevention education.

"A healthy mind starts with a healthy body," King said. "This event will encourage everyone in the District to lead an active lifestyle through exercise and healthy eating throughout the year. I applaud everyone who participates because it shows their commitment to health, while making a difference for their schools and the Wellness Centers."
