30-Acre Mulch Fire In Silverado Damages Outbuilding

SILVERADO (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Sunday were aggressively battling a mulch fire in Silverado that damaged an outbuilding.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi says the fire erupted at a nursery in the 27900 block of Baker Canyon near Blackstar Canyon Road at 10:10 a.m.

The captain says the OCFA is being assisted by the U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire.

Approximately 125 firefighters were dispatched to the firefight.

An aircraft also responded, according to the OCFA, which reported that the fire has spread to vegetation.

Officials said one firefighter was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a minor ankle injury. No other injuries were reported.

As of 1 p.m., the OCFA says the fire has scorched 30 acres with a potential to grow a couple hundred.

No further information was immediately available.
