6th Annual Mole Festival Celebrates All Things Saucy, Spicy

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Some like it hot. Indeed.

You could find hot and mild mole sauces at a downtown festival that celebrates the famous Mexican sauce.

Pronounced MOH-lay, the 6th annual La Feria de Los Moles or Mole Fair (held at El Pueblo de Los Angeles) had a little bit of everything including wrestling, music, lots of foods covered in mole – even Miss Mole 2013, wearing a dress decorated with mole ingredients – almonds, raisins, different kinds of chiles.

KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta attended the festival and talked to people about what they loved most.

"Terrific...good," said one man. "Este esta sabroso," said another woman.

Liz Galicia came from El Mural de Los Poblanos restaurant, in Puebla, Mexico, to be part of a mole workshop.

"For me, the secret [to making a great mole] is using the ingredients from that region," said Galicia, "all local things."
