4.2 Magnitude Quake Strikes About 40 Miles North Of Joshua Tree

JOSHUA TREE (CBSLA.com) — A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck about 40 miles north of Joshua Tree Saturday evening.

The quake struck around 7 p.m.

Several aftershocks -- in the range of 2.2 to 2.6 -- followed, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake rolled through a remote area near Interstate 40, in the direction of Needles and the Arizona border.

There have been no reports of any major damage or injury.
